程苗根是中国陶瓷工艺美术大师，又是浙江省长兴新槐紫砂厂的。他向来坚持一个观点：“评价紫砂艺术品的价值时，作品本身的品质只构成价值基础，而作者自身的学养和素质才是决定其价值的根本原因。”因此，他经常与的金石、书画大家合作，延续紫砂与文人雅士结缘的传统，通过艺术大家在壶身上题诗、作画，进一步提升紫砂具的艺术性，体现“壶随字贵、字随壶传”的特色。
